Panel upgrades and service changes

A panel change is the job that fixes the most problems at once. A lot of houses around Tahlequah and Muskogee still run on a panel sized for the appliances of forty years ago, and everything downstream of it is working around that limit.

What panel upgrades in Tahlequah covers

  • Full panel replacement
  • Service upgrades to 200 amp
  • Meter base replacement
  • Adding circuits to a full panel
  • Sub-panels for shops and additions
  • Grounding and bonding corrections

Straight answer

A panel is not just a box of breakers, it is the ceiling on everything the house can do. Adding a circuit to a full panel, feeding a shop, putting in a range or a heat pump all run into the same wall, which is why the panel is usually the fix rather than the thing that needed fixing.

What a visit looks like

  1. We look at the panel, the service entrance and the meter base, and count what the house actually runs. That decides the size.
  2. You get a written bid with the service size, the panel, and anything the inspection will want corrected while the cover is off.
  3. The changeout is usually a day. Power is off for part of it, the utility reconnects, and the inspection follows.

What moves the price

  • Service size. Going to 200 amps means the meter base and the service entrance conductors come with it.
  • What the inspection will require. Grounding, bonding and older wiring methods get corrected while the panel is open.
  • Access and the run to the meter. A panel on the far side of the house from the meter is more work than one beside it.

The number itself comes from a written estimate after somebody has looked at the job. Ask on the phone and you get told what the call-out is before anybody drives.
